The value of organization

Off the feeds, I came across a link to the post “How Much is my Blog Worth” and it put me in mind of Richard Hunter’s (or actually Herbert’s) description of Mentats and our increasing reliance on ‘experts’ to filter the noise and tell us what’s important: we don’t need more information, we need less and better information…they guide us rapidly to effective decisions while hiding the details…. There is value in organizing things. Doing this for personal reasons and in a personal information space is one thing. Doing this in a public way, and placing it in a ‘commons’ is another. My blog is worth $1100 or so.

Now that reminds me of one of the Jim Butcher, Harry Dresden novels where one of the characters bargains off a year’s memory to get out of a scrape….but this site is my ‘pet brain’ in a Doctorow-outboard-brain type of way. How much is part of your brain worth?
